She returns to the United States to discover that her mother, who died giving birth, had a younger sister who may still live in Cyprus. Nora goes back to Cyprus and initiates a search for her lost aunt, but soon she must choose between continuing the investigation or following her dream of becoming a diplomat.

In time, the relationships she forged in Cyprus earn her a posting to the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia, where she reunites with her lover. Review
"Greg Lamb's style is like that of an artist painting, he takes extreme care with every color on his palette. I thought that reading "The People In Between: A Cyprus Odyssey" was like looking at fine art. His writing craft is top notch and the story is literally dripping with details of the nation that he obviously has a tremendous love for." - David Felder, author
"The Descriptions are artful masterpieces, describing Cyprus in such gorgeous imagery that you almost feel you are there." - Riley Banks, author of "William S Club
From the Author
Today Cyprus remains the only nation in the world with a divided capitol city. The nation has a demilitarized zone cutting through it and the once mixed cultures of Greek and Turkish Cypriot speaking people living together in inter-communal villages are now divided.
I chose to tell this story as a family saga using a young woman as the main character. Through the voices of several characters, the complicated and confusing contemporary history of Cyprus is presented in a way that isn't burdensome to the reader. Over the years I've noticed that in regions prone to insurgent warfare, it is the women who are most influential in either maintaining or re-establishing peace, which is why I wanted the main character in my novel to be a young woman.
"The People In Between" was intended to entertain and enlighten at the same time.
From the Inside Flap
This first novel written by Gregory S. Lamb's is set in Cyprus. It is a fictional family saga with an unforgettable cast of characters. Through their voices, readers will discover a piece of history shaped by the conflicts during the 1960s and 70s in Cyprus. The story is touching and tender and will transport the reader to a warm lovely place while at the same time provokes an awareness of how easily innocent people usually suffer as a result of failed diplomacy.

Intriguing
By Iris R.
I had the pleasant opportunity to read the book by Gregory S. Lamb "The People In Between". A friend of mine pointed it out and said I might be interested since I spent 20 months in Cyprus. I was skeptical at first until I started to read it. It didn't take long belong I realized how accurate Mr. Lamb is with the History of Cyprus and the Geographic's. That alone kept me interested. As I read the book I felt like I was back in Cyprus. The descriptions of the roads leading to and from the villages were spot on. I felt like I was watching a movie.
Then Mr. Lamb added the characters to keep the novel interesting. This kept me interested to continue reading. It added to the real life of the Cypriot people living there and what they went through and are still going through. I read the whole book in just over a day. Mr. Lamb's book is well written for all audiences whether they like History, Romance or even suspense and it's all incorporated into this book. I was skeptical at first about his writing since it was about Cyprus and was concerned about the accuracy but I'm not any longer skeptical about Mr. Lamb's writings. Mr. Lamb did an outstanding accurate Novel about the life of the people in this beautiful country. I cannot wait to read his next book. I will be on the lookout for it.

Good first novel by author
By Riley Banks
I have quite mixed feelings about this book. It is exceptionally well-researched; the author has done a marvellous job of recreating the complicated history of Cyprus and weaving it into a contemporary setting. The descriptions are artful masterpieces, describing Cyprus in such gorgeous imagery that you almost feel you are there.
I really enjoyed the unfolding love story between the main character, Nora and the Cypriot man she falls for. I even enjoyed the slow (often painfully so) unfurling of Nora’s family history on the island.
For anyone with even an inkling of interest in Cyprus or books that contain a lot of fact woven with fiction (faction), this is definitely a must-read book.
The author should beware of changing points of view mid-paragraph. It can make it very jarring for the reader when you think you are in one person’s head only to suddenly be thrust into another character’s viewpoint. I love multi-viewpoint stories but the author really needs to work on how he changes viewpoints.
There is a couple of grammar and spelling mistakes that pulled me out of the story but not enough to really ruin my enjoyment.
My only real criticism, which is almost in direct contrast to my earlier praise, is that there is so much history and backstory that it sometimes interferes with the flow of the main story. I have to admit to skimming over a few of the history chapters because I just wanted to get back to the action.
Oh, and the official blurb on Amazon could really do with a spruce up. It doesn’t do nearly enough to paint the wonderful story of this book, and could actually harm your sales overall.
Overall, a good first story that obviously shows the author’s keen interest in Cyprus.

A History Lesson on Cyprus Told From the Eyes of Youth
By Linda Heavner Gerald
The People in Between: A Cyprus Odyssey portrays a chaotic time of history within the borders of a scarred country which few understand. I purchased the book for my husband who is retired Air Force. It fascinated me so I read it first. I am the author of nine novels. There were a few bumps in the writing but the story of a group of young people watching the change in their country is skillfully mingled with true events. There are stories within stories pulled together as silk threads in a fine garment. Mr. Lamb's time in Cyprus skillfully educates the reader. His love for the area is apparent. Please take the time to read this fascinating tale filled with gripping emotion.
