About the Author
Michael Dewe has extensive experience at senior level in public libraries and latterly as a University Lecturer in the Department of Information Studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Wales. As well as a long-standing commitment to writing and lecturing about library buildings, he has also acted as a consultant both in the UK and abroad. Actively involved with the IFLA Section on Library Buildings and Equipment for a number of years, he was also a member of the judging panel for the Public Library Building Awards scheme from 1995 to 2003. Currently he is a team member of the library buildings database project, Designing Libraries (www.designing libraries.org.uk) and has written a booklet on primary school library design.

Shift Happens!

I feel the need to let you know what a huge impact "Navigating 2012" has made on me, my life and my thought-process. I have been on an accelerated spiritual path since the age of 14 (I am now 64). I have read thousands of books along the journey, seen many "enlightened" teachers, been to countless groups and seminars. When I got a kindle for Christmas, I started browsing the genres and came across your book. I have always been deeply interested in the 11:11 phenomena and for the past decade, the 2012 shift. Early on, I read what Edgar Cayce told us about when the Mayan calendar would end. He called it a "polar shift." Many interpreted this to mean the physical north/south poles would reverse, causing major mayhem and castastrophe. That never felt right to me, although I did recognize it as a possibility. Through the years, I've arrived at the same conclusion that you espouse in your groundbreaking book. And upon finishing the book, have actually felt/seen palpable changes in how I view the world, other people, the future. It's an understatement to say it has had a profound effect on me. And it was immediate. And thank you for making it available for kindle!

A Real Energy Worker

I was in one of Dr. Michael's teleseminars recently, and I was delighted to learn that he has advanced beyond the usual "how to protect yourself as an empath" offerings of others, into spiritual techniques for moving energy in your body and for interacting with consciousness outside the human mind and body.

He reminded me how to extend heart energy to a tree and to say hello. The tree outside my window's response was "It's about time, I've been waiting for you." He reminded me that the earth and trees, living as they do at slower frequencies, "eat" the lower-energy emotions that we humans like to discard, just as humans breathe trees' waste oxygen.

Having practiced Taoist meditation, chi kung, basic shamanistic journeying and more, and having experienced the truth of such practices by feeling them in my body (if I feel the chi move I know I'm not just just visualizing it), I can assure you that this man's expertise in the world of Spirit is real.

He does it again...

Until today, I've never reviewed anything on amazon.com and I use it regularly. I couldn't pass up the opportunity today to recommend this and all of Dr. Smith's work. I have and will continue to read everything Dr. Smith writes or records. He is gifted in his ability to help those who are intuitive/empaths to "navigate" this special gift, especially in a time of energetic change. All of this has been new to me and I wondered if it was slightly woo-woo, but I have found firm ground to stand on... and that's not woo-woo! I highly recommend this book and all of Dr. Michael R. Smith's other books, mp3s, website, etc.!! Go for it! You will be glad you did!

latest thoughts

This book is now four years old, nearly five years since it was written. The major ideas in it are still up-to-date, in fact even more relevant in view of the flood of pseudo-science pushing the idea that all human behaviour originates in our genes.
Nevertheless the book is now ready for revision, and you might like to know that I'm busy revising it now. Lots of new archaeological discoveries need including, and one or two new pieces of information about languages: disappointingly few, actually, because linguists seem to have swallowed the genetic argument, or else to uncomfortably ignore it, rather than trying to take it on. The ghost of Chomsky (well it would be his ghost if he wasn't happily still alive and kicking), let's say the spirit of Chomsky still pervades Western linguistics, while Soviet linguistics has other interests.
So an up-date of this rather individual book should be welcome.

Horrible, monotonous and not interexting

I had to get this book for a social deviance class when I received it I didn't particularly care for it. Its very dry material. A typical textbook without anything remotely interesting. I learned more from my professor than I did from the textbook. It's pretty much facts and not very good at keeping the reader engaged. I supposed for informative reasons it is necessary but I wouldn't recommend it for recreational reading. If I could I wouldn't have gotten this book in the first place.
