Solid Biblical Insights to set men free

We were made to live from the heart, but sadly most people don't. I use this material to help to help University Students and soon Secondary Students in helping them walk free from sexual addiction. Most of the insights from this book are unique from Mark Laaser and very helpful for men to get at the core of who they are and to become aware of their emotional wounds. Sexual addiction is sin, but trauma contributes to laying a deeper foundation for the sin of addiction to take route. Again, excellent resource. We are using this in our group for men in Carlisle, England in helping men become free from sexual addiction.

About the Author
Héctor Abad Faciolince (b. 1958) is a novelist, poet, essayist, editor and translator. He won the Colombian National Short Story Prize at the age of twenty-one and has twice won the Símon Bolívar Prize for journalism. In 1987, his father was murdered by Colombian paramilitaries and Abad was forced into exile, moving first to Spain and then to Italy. He published his first book, Malos Pensiamentos (1991) while in exile, but it was only when he returned to Colombia in 1993 that he became a full-time writer. Abad is one of a new generation of iconoclastic Colombian writers looking for new ways of depicting reality in general, and Colombian contemporary society in particular. His style shares an affinity with Umberto Eco and Italo Calvino's; a champion of stylistic experimentation and flexibility, he favours 'artists who have changed (Picasso)' and 'writers who search (Calvino)', over those who pursue a single unchanging style. His Oblivion: a Memoir was published in English in 2011.

Netters Cardiology, a solid text for those with basic interest in cardiology

The book is very well organized. As it states is a great overview for medical students, and interns with a general interest in cardiology. As with all Netter Text the figures and diagrams were excellent. Not only the hand drawn figures but the actual examples of various imaging techniques were good as well. Every table, flow chart and or box was useful, well written and very easy to interpret and is high yield. Some were basic in discussing medications for example and others were complex when explaining hemodynamics. The authors do a good job of making an effort to make an interdisplinary approach to the heart making the text easy to read and understand. In addition at the end of every section there are resources for additional information as well as a box highlighting some of the current evidence.

Section 1 was one of my favorites, stressing the importance of physical exam findings along with various basic diagnostic techniques. A part often left out in other texts. The section on imaging was notably very up to date and had future directions commented on as well.

Section 2 as on ACS and gave excellent flow diagrams and management options. It was nice that at the end of the chapters there were directions for further readings as well as guidelines used as citation. There were even major studies were noted in the actual text which was a nice touch.

Section 3 focused on the cardiomyopathys, the figures and tables in this section were the highlights. Moreover there was a good basic description of the clinical presentation and mgmt options available. The parts on the path physiology of the cardiomyopathys were very easy to read and made understanding the actual disease process easier.

Section 4 was on rhythm abnormalities. There were excellent decryptions of the
Various arrhythmias, but I would have liked more ECG examples of the rhythms, however for the scope of this text there were enough.

Section 5 was focused valvular heart disease. Again in similar fashion to the prior sections there was a little path physiology, clinical presentation and management options. The tables and diagrams can definitely help the reader better understand the valvular pathologies.

Section 6 was on the pericardium. Often this section is only mentioned in other text but here it received some much needed attention.

Sections 7 was on some bread and butter internal medicine as well as cardiology as it resolved around various vascular diseases. The sections on treatment and diagnosis stand out in my mind as these figures were some of the best.

Section 8 is on congenital heart disease. Again this section is often only minimally mentioned in adult cardiology texts due to the vast amounts of information. Here the netter diagrams along with real echo pictures really aided in understanding the anatomy.

Sections 9 commented on cardiovascular conditions in various other conditions. This section is probably most useful for young internist as well as medical students with limited interest in cardiology as a career but wanting to better understand the heart's role in various other disease states.

Section 10 comments on the future directions of cardiac disease and does a good job of discussing some of the up and coming ideas in cardiology. In particular this section is useful to see cardiac issues on a population basis.

Depending on the audience, I feel this book does a wonderful job of highlighting and giving descriptions of the various parts of cardiology but not only does it provide an overview there is some in-depth discussions on various techniques and treatment options cardiologist use as to have a better informed reader.

A Great Reference for the Busy Clinician

As a practicing physician in internal medicine, Netter's Cardiology provides a concise approach to the patient with cardiovascular disease. Beyond the informative illustrations from Dr. Netter and his successors, the book combines the current underlying pathophysiology of disease processes, approaches to diagnosis, and procedural aspects of patient care. Input comes from adult and pediatric cardiologists, radiologists, surgeons, and other relevant specialists. The multi-disciplined approach manifests itself as alongside the illustrations are images from echocardiograms, EKGs, ultrasounds, stress tests, angiography, cardiac magnetic resonance, and cardiac computed tomography. Algorithms and high-yield information are set out from the text helping the clinician in a time crunch. This book has created a great blend of text, illustrations, images, and figures. Not only do my patients benefit from this book, but I enjoy sitting down and taking the book in.

Great Focused and Evidenced-Based Overview of Cardiology

Netter's Cardiology is a detailed yet concise overview of the current practice of Cardiology. A great mid-length text for the intern or resident without lots of time to read the lengthy full Cardiology texts. A chapter can be digested easily in 20 minutes and all topics conclude with a short but current review of the literature for high-yield quick references. Chapters are written by leading physicians and researchers in each field of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. As an intern planning to enter Cardiology fellowship in the coming years, I found this text to be a nice "next step" read following Lilly (or another cardiology physiology text) but before jumping into the detail of Braunwald or Hurst. Great focus on clinical exam skills. Highly recommended.

Highly Detailed Coloring/Activity Book

My seven year old daughter received this as a gift and she adores it. There are opportunities to color on every page, but I would estimate that about half the pages involve an activity. There are mazes, word puzzles, drawing prompts, and matching games to name a few. If you are only looking for coloring pages, this is probably not the book for you.The included stickers are very nice, and about a 50/50 mix of characters and colored snowflakes. The images for coloring are highly detailed, and might be frustrating for younger children. This book is best suited to users with colored pencils.

Journey to the Ice Palace (Coloring and activity book from the movie "Frozen")

I have a four year daughter who is a huge fan of the movie "Frozen" and when this arrived in the mail last week, she sat down for two straight hours, completely consumed. She loves coloring in the pictures and has asked me to help her with some of the more advanced activities like the mazes or letter games. I have been thoroughly impressed with this book's ability to inspire her concentration and imagination and since she can sit still with it for long periods of time it has also freed me up to do other things while she's occupied. Most of the activities are too advanced for a young child to read or do on their own, but she recognizes all of the scenes from the movie and loves putting her own touches into the illustrations. I highly recommend it for the price and it will be a coloring book that's filled in from cover to cover for little enthusiasts of the film.

Lots of activities, not a ton of coloring pages.

My kids aren't into word searches, mazes, and spelling challenges. We love to color. Would have liked more straight on coloring than activities, but overall a fun book. Pages are super flimsy newspaper.

it is what it is.

it is a great book of prints of engravings from medieval Germany. One could also say it is a commentary on heiarchy in the same. the quality of the prints used is excellent and there are so many details.

the book is a book, but the pictures are brilliant. each of the pictures comes with a bit of poetry about each of the trades.

for those who are intrested in Medieval history, late 15th, early 16th C. dress, tools, furniture, this book is a must have.
